GS4GG updates to align with CORSIA Requirements

Gold Standard has today published clarifications and minor revisions to its standards documentation, to align with requirements set out by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for approval to supply credits for Phase 1 of CORSIA.

Under these revisions, Gold Standard has:

  1. Clarified its policy for managing any reversals of emission reductions or removals that are eligible for CORSIA
  2. Updated its procedures for verifying reports by host countries on their Article 6 authorisations and their application of corresponding adjustments, as well as managing double claiming
  3. Introduced new requirements to ensure the avoidance of double claiming between Nationally Determined Contributions and credits used towards CORSIA compliance obligations

Gold Standard will formally notify ICAO of these changes, to support their upcoming assessment of programme eligibility.

Gold Standard is committed to providing project developers using our standard with the option to supply credits for use under the first and future phases of CORSIA, and to avoid undue delay in making this option available. Following these revisions we will explore further options, including with partners, that can manage the avoidance of double claiming under CORSIA in a way that is credible, in line with international requirements and accessible for project developers.
